Three Days 'Til...
...Christmas *grin* I often say I'm excited about it and yeah I do get like that, but really I find Christmas isn't always as much about the day as it is about about looking forward to the day. And of course that aftermath of rewarded anticipation feel that lingers around for weeks later. It's all those days snuggling around that certain day that really make the day what it is. Think about it. If you lived in a cave and had no notion of Jesus or celebrating his birth day, and then suddenly out of the blue you get these visitors and they bring a party in with them, it would still be cool, but no where near as good. You'd still have this day of wild excitment but you'd have no anticipation to cement the joy in and slowly the details of the day would fade into a small pin prick in your memory. So, yes, I love anticipating delightful things.
Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned how I haven't cooked any cookies this year? Well, I can only halfy claim to that anymore. Halfly that is. I in no way have any extra strength to actually do it, but Hannah and I had earlier decided to make a huge jar of cookies for Dad for Christmas (It's a huge jar mind you, and we're planning on making no less than five batches of different cookies). With me being my own form of an invalid, Hannah and I have devised our own system on how to cook together. My main job is to make sure Hannah doesn't forget to add the sugar (she has this thing for not reading recipes...and somehow forgetting the sugar even if she does. It's really turned into somewhat of a joke) and make sure the cookies get pulled out of the oven before the boys start sniffing the air and announcing such disheartening news as, "I think something is burning." In the last two days Hannah's former predictable disasters have all been averted and we have three successful batches of cookies stashed away of which we're both rather proud *g*
I just completed a Christmas present today that is also somewhat of a gift to y'all too. That is, I hope you'll like it as well. It's a stockpile of photos of all us Davis's in our everyday lives and significant moments of this year. It was originally just an idea of a small album to send to Matty as I know he must be so lonesome for photos of home. Then as I was pulling together the shots from all manner of hidden files and drawers, I realised that what I was pulling together was also a time capsule of our year. To see the online version for Matt go here. But the one that I made as a public version with an extra photo and more explanatory captions you'll find at: family-time-capsule.blogspot.com. I'll stop rambling now so you can go have a peek ;)
