Shrek 2 for the Second Time

Good news! Josh has no back or neck injuries and he's been discharged!

Mum said it was amazing when they got into Adelaide last night. It was about 8:30 when they left here (they had to take off in the dark) and they landed about midnight. Straight away they were whizzed to the hospital by ambulance and into a trauma room. Mum said it was just like a Dee Henderson book.

The nurse asked her: "What kind of accident was it?"
Mum: "Motorbike accident."
Nurse: "Ok, I just needed to know which trauma team to call." And she pressed one of the buttons on the wall. Mum reckons that within a minute Josh was surrounded by nine people like ants scurrying everywhere. She said they literally cut his pants off him which he was none too excited about, "But they're my favourite pants!" (I guess I'd forgotten to inform him that they were already trashed, anyway, when I was talking to him while waiting for the plane to get here...) Then for about three hours they took tons of x-rays and tests. At first they were a bit worried about a lump on his neck and got more x-rays and another doctor's opinion, but it turned out to be nothing serious.

They finally got him into a bed about three o'clock this morning. He got a bit of sleep despite the fact they kept coming in every hour to wake him up just to make sure he didn't have a concussion. Mum didn't manage to get any and when I talked to her about twenty minutes ago she sounded really tired. Right now Josh is watching Shrek 2 for the second time (the little boys are so jealous. lol) and a social worker is organizing their trip back. The Flying Doctor will either fly them or because we come from a remote area they'll get an all expenses paid trip back.

Now photos. I wouldn't have thought to take any at first except that between all the gasping for breath Josh manged to say, "Take photos so I can show my American friends." Heh...so we took photos.

Waiting for the doctor to arrive. (he had to keep completely still in case he had any neck or back injuries)

He could get some decent scars.

They're here! (two hours later)

Stabilising him for transport.

Transporting him to the plane on the back of the ute.

Loaded in and almost ready to go.

Inside the plane.

The plane (it was about 7:30)

About to leave (Mum went with him)

Take off (we had to get two of the work utes to light up the end of the airstrip so that the pilot, Bud, knew where to take off before)
